Georgia’s largest and most popular ski resort is Gudauri in the Greater Caucasus, just north of Tbilisi.
Gudauri is widely considered Georgia’s flagship ski and snowboarding destination, offering excellent powder snow conditions, extensive off-piste terrain, and a longer ski season that typically runs from December through April.
Boasting a base elevation of 2,200m, with a top elevation of 3,250m and a 1,250m skiable vertical, it features modern infrastructure with high-speed gondolas and chairlifts serving over 70 kilometers of marked runs. Gudauri excels in advanced terrain and après-ski options.
Tetnuldi ski resort, located in the remote Svaneti region, has long piste trails and brand new lifts. Tetnuldi ski resort offers a top elevation of 3,160 meters and 950 meters of skiable vertical.
Bakuriani, situated at a lower elevation in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region situated at a lower elevation, offers a more family-friendly atmosphere with gentler slopes ideal for beginners, but has a shorter season and less reliable snow. Bakuriani is known for being the country’s best ‘learn to ski’ slopes and typically has a cheap ski lift pass. Bakuriani ski resort has modern gondolas serving nearly 30 kilometers of trails on a vertical drop of 1,060 meters.
Goderdzi ski resort is situated in the Lesser Caucasus and has new facilities and lifts servicing mellow alpine terrain and forests. Goderdzi’s ski season generally lasts from November to April, catering to skiers of all levels.
Hatsvali ski resort is near the town of Mestia and provides both on and off-piste skiing options. Hatsvali ski resort has modern facilities including two chairlifts and offers skiing with cultural exploration available in Mestia.

Cat skiing has also recently begun in the Svaneti region, with operations starting near the Tetnuldi ski area. The cat skiing in Adjara explores old-growth forests, deserted villages, and remote mountains, providing a unique skiing experience. In addition to established cat skiing operations, a new area called Project X opened for cat skiing in the 2022/23 season.

Tbilisi is the easier airport to fly into, with regular flights from major European origins.
Kutaisi Airport has flights only two to three times a week from selected European airports.
Buses, marshrutkas, taxis, rental cars, and trains are the modes of transportation available in Georgia.
